Best steak sandwich
Though Bern's is known for more, give the steak sandwich a try and sit at the bar... always great for a first date as the bartenders and other patrons are always friendly and fun.

If you haven't tried the desert room, you are definetly missing out! - Julian , posted 01/27/06

OK but....
I agree that Berns can do a great job however, not always and especially not at this price level. We went for my birthday with another couple. The waiter had a hard time understanding that my wife was the head of the table; he kept looking to me and the other guy. Not good.

My wife & I shared a chateaubriand (sp?) - we asked for med-rare & it was rare. Not good. The meat was very good, as were the sides; just not cooked to specification.

Our table was in the middle of a large room - a very noisy large room. Not good.

Afterwards we went upstairs for desert & coffee. It was great! Quiet, good food, good service; everything we had hoped the restaurant would be and it wasn't. Sorry about that but there it is. - Don , posted 12/07/05

Best steak place I've ever been to
Let's get a couple things straight before the haters jump in ;-)

I am not a gourmet. I'm also what is sometimes referred to as "thrifty" and usually by my wife as "cheap". This place is not cheap. A good meal here will set you back upwards of $100/person. It will be one of the best meal experiences you have ever had in your life.

The wait staff is professional, helpful, and friendly. They are more than happy to walk you through the process of ordering food and wine, making very good suggestions throughout, with a complete lack of attitude or pomposity.

The food is simply amazing. I didn't know you could do that with beef. When they tell you to order a cut of beef smaller than what you usually eat, LISTEN. You will still wind up taking home leftovers to enjoy for the rest of the week.

Much like Burning Man, I can talk about this place all day, but why? That's what google's for ;-). Just like BM, all the talk in the world will never quite capture the actual essence of the event, because that's what a meal here is.
